I believe in buying local and living sustainably and I do it whenever I can. Supporting local independent businesses, crafters and makers is something that is very important to me and I believe with our current economic climate this is going to become more and more important for all of us – both buyers and sellers. On top of this, handmade items are simply amazing these days – there is some incredible and unique talent
out there producing affordable, highly creative and very good quality work. It's fantastic when people appreciate the time, effort, skill and love that goes into the things we make. We do a little happy dance EVERY time you buy or like something – big retailers don't.
I like to attend markets that have good philosophies and policies – who are often supporting their communities or local charities and who believe in reducing any negative impact.
As far as my business is concerned, I always buy my materials from UK suppliers, I am totally plastic free and my packaging is not only recycled but recyclable.
Next time you need a gift or it's getting closer to Christmas or a big holiday, think about buying local, buying independent and supporting the smaller independent retailers – it really does make a difference and will make you feel good too!
